Lucia Alvarez Nunez - Pianist
As a teacher, I aim to communicate my passion for music to my students while connecting with their interests. Drawing from 15 years of teaching experience, I help my students grow by giving them a set of technical and musical skills to help them discover a range of repertoire as well as learn to express their own artistic voice and become well-rounded musicians. Music is not only important in and of itself but also an invaluable tool in intellectual development as well as a gateway to other forms of artistic self expression.
My goal is to create a welcoming, patient, and inclusive environment where students can be creative but also learn self discipline, flexibility, and problem solving in their own music making. I hope to inspire my students to pursue their musical journey and guide them on their way.
Quotes from students:
"I loved Lucia’s passion for music as well as her piano playing skills. From a teaching standpoint, she did an amazing job of covering course concepts in a way the students would better understand."
"Very patient, great feedback and structured guidance throughout the class. Felt like we were always logically building up our piano skills Also felt like she cared about us as human beings not merely as students, which is rare among a lot of teachers. Would recommend to any of my friends looking to learn piano."
"Takes her time to work with each student individually such a great teacher."
"Very encouraging, knowledgeable, and kind, while keeping high standards that make you want to practice harder and excel. Also quick to make a joke. An ideal learning environment."
"I think Professor Nunez is a great piano instructor because she was able to cater my private lessons towards what I need to work on as a piano player. Even though I came into lessons with a solid foundation on technique, I was able to learn how to make my phrases and textures more clear on the piano, which was something I couldn’t do before. Looking forward to more lessons!"
"Really amazing teacher! My favorite out of any I’ve had."
